"We did a fun girlfriend activity in Brooklyn - a pottery class. It was my first time trying pottery. The studio was easy to get to from Manhattan. I liked the studio and the teacher was patient with us. Two hours went by quickly, and I made a few small dishes. It's a great idea for a date or to do with friends. I found it relaxing, even though I wasn't very good at making plates. The staff was helpful and nice. The place was big and well-organized. The only downside was that my cup won't be ready for 3 weeks, which seems too long and you need to pay extra if you want to get more than one item you made."

"This was my first time working with a pottery wheel, and let me tell you, it’s much harder than it looks. It’s also incredibly calming, though—like a peaceful, messy escape. Speaking of messy, definitely wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. If you’ve got plans afterward, bring a change of clothes because clay has a way of sneaking onto everything! The 2-hour session is well-structured. You get an intro and demo to start, followed by free time to create and then a cleanup session. Honestly, time flies because you spend most of it practicing and experimenting, especially as you get used to the wheel. If you’re coming with friends or a date, be sure to arrive early to snag seats together—it’s first-come, first-served, and you might end up separated if you’re late. At $90, it’s a bit of a splurge for a one-time experience, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking to try something new. You get to keep one piece you make (they fire it for you), but I’ll admit none of mine turned out exactly how I wanted. Still, I picked one just because it was my own creation. Would I do this all the time? Probably not. But for a one-off creative adventure, it’s totally worth it. Highly recommend if you’re looking to try something new!"

"I have been a studio potter at Choplet since Sept. I really enjoy working in this studio. There are many wheels & several studios to work in, and an outdoor space too. The people who work at Choplet are very nice and I feel welcome to do my own thing. There are many different class options at Choplet, both group & private, for kids & adults. My 15 year old daughter took a private lesson as a Bday gift & she loved it!! It’s great to see all the interesting & beautiful work made by the studio potters, teachers & students. I recommend. 😊"
